Research and Design: Creativity, originality, innovative value

10

  • There must be clear novel, future-proof and useful contributions to the evolution of the field, which solve a relevant problem and/or target a relevant application, e.g. a patent, new original ideas that has been sufficiently proven to be needed and realistic;
  • The contributions should be with clear prospects for utilization, potential for a research/design project funding application;
  • The work proposes a new piece of theory with relevant utilization perspectives;
  • There should be clear indications for a breakthrough;
  • The work shows rich imagination, proposes creative ideas and inspires others;
  • The societal relevance for the work should be high;
  • There are inspiring design decisions that are argued to make the progress the SOTA and SOP;

9

  • There must be clear and novel, useful contributions to the advancement of the field, which solve a relevant problem and/or target a relevant application;
  • The process of solution synthesis is systematic and logical;
  • A new piece of theory is proposed;
  • There must be novelties that are argued to be useful.
  • The novelties should be explicitly listed;
  • There are unorthodox and innovative design decisions that are argued to make the difference with the SOTA;

8

  • There must be clear quantifiable useful deliverables/contributions;
  • There must be multiple innovative own contribution and deliverables in the project;
  • All relevant design decisions are properly argued;

7

  • There must be clear quantifiable deliverables/contributions;
  • There must be at least one innovative own contribution of the student and at least one deliverable in the project;
  • The major design decisions are explicit and argued;

6
